Not impressed with Revolution Online

In Uncategorized on November 5, 2010 at 8:13 am
Revolution Magazine to me, has always stood out from the rest of all the other pedestrian, national geographic type watch publications. With their stylized hot photos and editorials and amazing content ,I gave them watch mag of the year last year, even though I still had a tough timing paying fifteen bucks for a watch mag, but it was still somewhat acceptable. Now, things have changed, especially with their really hokey poor excuse they call a website. Come on! Really? To me it reminds me of another online idiot that is less than average.  I thought they had standards, but to me Revolution Online is way to cluttered and not nearly as interesting to look at as their magazine, even though they are not short of good content by any means. If they could just incorporate the magazine aesthetic, adapt it for online, they would blow the doors off everybody. Please weigh in and comment on this post if you have a real opinion.

IWC flagship boutique in Hong Kong is a watch collectors dream

It was last year in June 2009, that IWC globally made every watch collectors wet dreams come true, no pun intended. IWC opened their worlds first flagship boutique in Hong Kong. Most people don’t really know why this incredible structure was created besides giving collectors and enthusiasts alike a unique experience into the world of IWC.

You see, In 1517, a Portuguese explorer by the name of Fernão Pires de Andrade landed at the mouth of the Pearl River on the coast of southern China and started trading with an empire that until then had been sequestered from the rest of the world. That’s why it seems fitting that IWC would opened its first Flagship Boutique at this very same location, which is the site of modern Hong Kong. After all, the Schaffhausen- based company’s legendary Portuguese collection is dedicated to visionary men-of-action, explorers and mariners like Pires de Andrade. The building in Kowloon housing the IWC Flagship Boutique resonates history from every stone. At one time it served the British Crown Colony as Marine Police Headquarters.

This boutique is broken up into the five families that make up IWC’a collection. Each room represents a family. This serves not as a boutique but as a home to each of the five families. These rooms are adorned with incredible representational objects to capture the essence and feel of each of the collections from the furniture, imagery and displays. It gives me a great reason to go to HK besides the food and hot women, because I am a sucker for anything IWC.

The Tale of Charlie Sheen, his missing Patek Phillipe 5970 and a Porn Star named Capri

In Uncategorized on November 3, 2010 at 8:51 am

Actor Charlie Sheen still loves to rock out with his cock out live on the dirty side of life.  Last week, while he was staying in NYC,  he proved that he is still my hero just how wild he is.  Usually, you don’t really hear about porn stars, coke binges and Patek Phillipe mentioned in the same sentence, but thank god we have Charlie Sheen for that. Talk about mid life crisis. The Two and Half Men star still thinks he is Bud Fox in the movie Wall street. He is one horny mofo, and can you blame him? When you are earning two million dollars per episode, you have rocked the world of the hottest women, you have been married twice and have children, this all makes sense right? Wrong!

What happened last week in NYC? Well, besides Charlie Sheen getting his nob polished to a high sheen by porn star Capri, he went on a massive coke binge and trashed his very swanky room at the Plaza Hotel incurring $7,000 worth of damages.  Funny enough, the catalyst behind the dirty fueled rage was because he thought the hoe stole his Patek Phillipe 5970. I would be pissed as well, because the watch is an iconic perpetual calendar chronograph masterpiece which roughly goes for about $140,000 depending on the metal. Charlie locked the working girl in the bathroom naked and scared the living shiz out of her. Poor Hooker. On one hand, I feel bad for Charlie Sheen, but on the other, your Charlie Sheen, WTF, have you ever heard of a safe? Of course the watch was not recovered and Charlie probably felt betrayed because he really wanted to trust this 22 year old hooker, but come on Charlie, times are different now. It’s classic moments like these that make me love the entertainment industry, so stay tuned, I am sure there will be more to come.

Omega makes it’s debut in the new James Bond Blood Stone video game

In Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Just when you thought, how could Omega possibly get more branding with James Bond? They bitch slap us all in the face and get some great exposure in the new James Bond video game “Blood Stone”
This is very clever for Omega to make this sort of move because it helps market the shiz out of the ever so popular Planet Ocean model watch which is featured on the character of James Bond, where  Rolex Enthusiast famed Bond actor Daniel Craig is the voice and likeness.

This game is extremely cinematic and offers the game enthusiast al feel of being James Bond on Sea and Land and experience every thrill associated with being 007 except boinking.   I will say the watch kind of looks like a ladies watch  in that it’s very disproportionate on the wrist and doesn’t look realistic. The game is available now for Play Station 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS.

LVMH is 17.1% closer to owning Hermes

In Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 at 9:16 am

Luxury powerhouse, LVMH, last week announced that they have invested in Hermes Paris.  Even though the luxury giant bought 17.1 %  stake for two billion dollars, they are lying denying that they have plans to acquire the brand in full, which in my opinion is a bunch of happy horse shiz. Interestingly enough, 73% of Hermes, is still held by the Hermes family.
Mr Arnault, CEO of LVMH, bought a 5 percent stake in Gucci Group in 1999, saying LVMH didn’t want to make a full bid, then increased the holding to 34 percent within a month. Mr. Arnault, ranked seventh on the Forbes magazine list of the world’s richest people, eventually lost a takeover battle for Gucci to French rival PPR SA.
LVMH would have to pay close to 19 billion dollars to acquire Hermes in full, which they could finance by selling 66% of their holdings in their drink venture with partner Diageo Plc. I don’t know how much sense this would make since the mark up in drinks market is many times that of luxury handbags. This will be an interesting maneuver if LVMH decides to go for the Full Monty because Hermes is one of the most desired and respected luxury brands in the world. Volna Timepieces says goodbye to the watch Industry

In Uncategorized on November 2, 2010 at 8:43 am

Due to the economic downturn, Volna SA owner of Volna Watches has been dissolved. This was actually a really cool brand that was different from any of the other newcomer brands that were just clones of brands from the past. Volna was a Swiss brand that turned these Commie Bastards Russian military inspired watches into radioactive art pieces.  Because of the recent change of the company’s restructure and the two and a half million Swiss Francs that were invested less than a year ago, they had no choice, but to liquidate.

The new Richard Mille RM016 for the Americas is the thinnest timepiece they have ever made

In Uncategorized on November 1, 2010 at 3:01 am
Richard Mille decides to make the thinnest watch they have ever made called the RM016 for the Americas. This watch is super cool looking and minimalist Richard Mille in every way, except the price! $65,000 for a time only watch in titanium? WTF?  Big deal there are two models limited to 15 pieces for each model in two variations, but who is going to drop the price of a nice car on a watch that only tells the time? To be honest, I am really sick of RM taking the piss and raping their customers financially, especially since there is nothing super special about their movements and in most cases your paying for the machining of the materials and the aesthetics. The watch will be available for the North American and South American Markets and will be sold at authorized retailers and the first US Richard Mille Boutique which will open in Beverly Hills in early November.
Details:
The watch is constructed in a titanium case measuring 49.8mm x 38mm x 8.25mm with a skeletonized automatic winding movement with a power reserve of 55 hours and a rotor with variable geometry.
water resistant to 30 meters and feature double AR-coated sapphire crystals.

Is Tiffany and Co for real with their new 5TH Ave watch?

In Uncategorized on November 1, 2010 at 2:27 am
Greetings from London! So, I never thought this was humanely possible, but  I guess it is. Tiffany and Co. in my opinion, have made the dirtiest ugliest watch I think I have ever seen. This is to commemorate their infamous iconic flagship store in New York? It would have been easier and cost no money to literally have someone urinate all over the outside of the store instead. It’s sad to me that a store that stands for class and distinction like Tiffany an Co in New York, especially on 5TH Ave would soil their image with making a mistake like this.
I don’t know who designed this watch and thinking it would be a hit? I just can’t fathom how something so tasteless and tacky will sell to anybody. This watch is anything but subtle. It reminds me of these lower end watch brands that are looking to imitate the bigger brands at a third of the price, but this is just an abortion. The dial is anything but classy and looks really cheap and hokey with 5TH AV written on the dial in diamonds super big. I expect this sort of thing from the home shopping network for $99, but not from Tiffany and CO.
Details: Tiffany and Co 5TH Ave Watch

Crafted in polished 18-carat white gold, the streamlined rectangular case of both the 36 mm and 46 mm watches
Available with either a black or a silver background, the numeral and letters of the
36 mm sparkle with 145 Top Wesselton diamonds worth 0.26 carats on the dial and are protected with a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. In order to respect the sleek, architectural silhouette of the case, an hour and minute corrector is located on the back of the case that can be adjusted with a special tool provided with the watch.

The new models of 5th Avenue are presented on a galuchat strap.  As is the case, the buckle is also crafted in 18-carat white gold and fully set with 20 diamonds (0.58 carats) for the 36 mm and 20 blue sapphires (1.20 carats) for the 46 mm. The 5th Avenue is powered by a Swiss Quartz movement.
